Very quick thought to get off my chest.
How do we feel about restarting a save/game to get a better outcome?
Let’s even call it an emotional outcome??
And, before you cry HAX & CHEATER, I want to preface this by explaining that it’s not about winning. (Traditional winning, at least.) I don’t do it for loot, or gear. I don’t do it because I won (or lost) a specific battle, because I didn’t get a fancy mount or the sexiest armor.
I DO have a tendency to throw myself off of a convenient cliff – or in front of a nearby wolf- when I get an absolute shit spawn in TLD’s Timberwolf Mountain, but who amongst us…
As part of team “not usually a fan of stories in video games”, I do sometimeeess get hooked on storylines/characters. Way way back in the day, in the time of FF8, I may have had a separate memory card dedicated to specific save points before my favorite cut scenes.
I’m currently ankle deep in Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days – and still deciding if I like it or not – and, of the half dozen ‘scenario’ teams you can start with, the only one I find interesting is the one for the young couple in love. (It would be great to add more characters, even as paid DLC, I’d love to see a pair of BFFs or something!) So it’s been a bit aggravating for me when I lose one of the ‘lovers’, as compared to the (possibly several) times I’ve sent less valuable people out to what later proved to be their deaths.
(Not intentionally, though, heavens no. This ain’t Sims!)
And, I’ll be honest, when one half of the pair dies… I just fucking delete the save and start over. Have I lost really amazing starts that way? Hell yes. Have I lost saves where I had a lot of resources, or I’d had some great RNG loot luck, or whatever? YUP.
But, yanno what, fuck it. I want (their) love to survive.

I to this day identify as my character. Skyrim is my game. You save…save at each and every point so when you keel over just load previous 5mins ago save.
I detest death. All that experience and loots fat loots nope not goanna lose that.
So, I tend to avoid Perma death games. Honestly never made it too far in TLD so first time I heard about the Perma death was when I joined your discord oh 3yrs ago. I hoard everything seeds, tools, even miscellaneous stuff like fish bait. In every game am that person, ha-ha looking for an economy.
When the zombies come, please find me it will be worth your while. Bring lots of gold.
Sims you can just murderize anyone? Hmm i have been missing something.

Noooo can’t give up on the romance! Though I may be loosely equating romance with sex, because it sounds like the end times – outside of fighting to survive- will be otherwise very boring for people without Netflix.
I think it’s actually better for folks to self-RP when it comes to the survival titles, because it gives you a playstyle direction WITHOUT it having to be a video game trope, yanno? It’s not “I am a ARCHER and I bring DEATH FROM A DISTANCE” it’s more like “uuugh fucking nasty zombies in the dark, nope, I will stay high up on buildings so how will I fight..oh, a bow!”
(Also, yes, Becca murders her Sims ALL THE TIME. In really creative and terrible ways.)
