Hold Your Breath/Another Day to Die

Two survival projects, one small studio. Hold Your Breath and Another Day to Die both linger in limbo.

Watch first. Then let’s see if we’re thinking the same thing by the end.

A very short trailer video of the gameplay, offering a glimpse into our game.

First Impression

So, only one of the games has a trailer on YT, but honestly, both games come across as generic top-down gun-filled loot & scoot titles, with little to set them apart.

The Basics

Platform: PC/Steam
Developer: Animpic Studio
Publisher: Animpic Studio
Permanent Home: Website
Expected Release: 2026 (HYB), Unknown (ADtD)

Survival or BS?

How does this game measure against my 5 Pillars of Survival Games – the framework I developed to identify authentic survival experiences vs. marketing fluff?

  • Necessities: Store pages are light AF on the details. I see food and water meters, one page also references shelters and “lack of air”, so, shrug!
  • Management: I see loot, but no other details.
  • World: Lack of info!
  • Resources: There will be scavenging and looting elements, but no idea of loot density or relevance.
  • Health: Seems as weak as necessities. As far as we know, it’s a basic “take damage, restore HP” mechanic?

Development Timeline

  • 2023: First time the devs posted to the Hold Your Breath Steam page, talking about an upcoming demo. Although the initial demo appears to have gone live, it generated little traction.
  • 2024: They returned in early 2024 with an updated HYB demo, also debuting the website for the game and announcing a Patreon, now deactivated, specifically for the game. That was it for communication for that year.
  • 2025: The only thing posted this year – to their Steam page- was a weird ‘cross promotion’ post for an upcoming game called Ayasa: Shadows of Silence, no idea why it was crossposted or what the relation is to HYB or their studio. But they debuted a new Steam page for the second title, Another Day to Die.

Community Pulse

Dev Communication: Absolutely dead for ages.
Discord Activity: No one has said shit in over a year. The Discord is also mega tiny.
Red Flags: So many!

Worth Following:

  • Steam: I’d hardly call it worth following, but certainly, Steam requires the least amount of effort.

Skip These:

Honestly, you may as well skip all of their platforms– all are dead.

The Tea

No overt drama, but what the fuck is going on with the game? The bulk of the social media platforms related to the game are dead, but the social media platforms for the studio itself still show signs of life. Their recent posting history on Reddit is mainly focused on their asset packs, which makes me feel like this is just another studio that cobbled together a game to feature shit they sell elsewhere. Also active in their Reddit post history is a recent post about an entirely different game they’re working on.

Final Thoughts

Are they flipping to a new project? Did they decide to back off on HYB after the demo was met with tepid response? Are they going to endlessly debut new ‘game ideas’ to showcase their assets and boost sales? NO ONE KNOWS.

Likelihood of Release: Don’t hold your breath (Ahhhh see what I did there?!)
Likelihood it Won’t Suck: Eh.
